Uría Menéndez to debut headquarters designed by Rafael de La Hoz

The law firm expands its offices in a building owned by Hispania in Madrid

The socimi will invest five million in the renovation, which is expected to be completed by November 2017.

The law firm Uría Menéndez, one of the largest in the country, is expanding its headquarters in Madrid. Due to its growth in recent years, the firm has decided to move part of its teams to another building facing its current center on Calle Príncipe de Vergara, 187. The property will undergo a profound transformation designed by Rafael de la Hoz, the prestigious architect they already trusted to build their modern office.

The building that will serve as an extension of the current headquarters belongs to Hispania Activos Inmobiliarios, which acquired it in October 2015. This socimi is owned by the magnate George Soros (17% of the capital) and managed by Azora. The property is located on Calle Suero de Quiñones, 42, right in front of the Uría Menéndez office, and adjacent to the National Music Auditorium.

Uría Menéndez has signed a 17-year lease agreement (of which 7.5 are mandatory) with Hispania. The building has 4,800 square meters. A spokesperson for the law firm explains that the decision to expand its facilities is due to the opportunity to grow in a building so close to its headquarters. Initially, some of their teams will move there, although they have not determined which departments will be relocated. Meeting rooms and a dining area will also be opened.

The law firm has around 1,000 employees, of which 600 work at the Madrid headquarters. The firm was founded by Rodrigo Uría and the professor Aurelio Menéndez. Precisely, the new headquarters will be named after this professor and Marquis of Ibias.
