Works of the future Sant Antoni Market, ready by the end of 2017

The renovation has a cost of 70 million euros and a commercial area of 11,500 m2. The works of the Sant Antoni Market have entered their final phase, and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, as informed by the Barcelona City Council in a statement. With the renovation, which will cost 70 million euros, residents will reclaim the interior courtyards of the market as public squares, and the market will reach 40,000 m2 of built area and 11,500 m2 of commercial space, including the food market, the “Encantes,” the Sunday market, and new operators.
The works are being carried out in two major simultaneous phases: the interior architecture, which aims to complete the restoration of the heritage building and finish the interior architecture of the underground floors, and the interior installations, which complement the former.
Specifically, this second phase includes the installation of air conditioning, electrical systems, and gas piping for the four underground floors (parking, logistics floor, and general services) and the future market.
